Based on 2 Corinthians 4:1-6
There are low tides in our spiritual life when we feel tired or alone or discouraged. Paul felt them as well and he
wrote about those low tides to the Corinthian believers.
The truth is, nothing is more motivating that knowing Jesus and understanding and living out God’s purposes for your life.
Motivator #1: God’s mercy. (v. 1)
We have been the recipients of God’s compassion in Jesus Christ dying for our sins. Therefore we will not fail. We cannot, out of mere gratitude.
Motivator #2: The very good gospel. (v. 2)
- It’s not a message to be ashamed of. We have “renounced” or disowned the hidden shame. That’s not what we present anymore.
- It’s not a message of deceitfulness.
- It’s not a message of trickery. “Handling the Word of God deceitfully” is similar to “craftiness” and has to do with tricking
someone into the snare.
Motivator #3: The cause of ministry. (vs. 3-4)
Motivator #4: The message of hope we have in Christ. (v. 5)
The word for preach here is kerusso, which means to herald or to tell the good news. This Jesus we preach is perfect and pure. He is Savior and Lord, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, Jehovah God! What a message.
