A sermon idea based on Psalm 107:1-9, 43.
The relevant topic I would be addressing, based on this text…
The goodness of God is enough to convince us to follow him.
Information about the text that matters to the message…
The psalm begins with a thanksgiving to God for his goodness, his mercy, and his grace. But it continues to recognize the consequences of the sins of others and the judgment some have incurred as a result of leaving God and going their own way.
But the psalmist returns to the theme that it is, as Paul once said, the goodness of God that leads us to repentance.
The big call-to-action in the message…
For nearly all of us, we can recognize the consequences of our rebellious and selfish decisions. Or, we can respond much earlier to the goodness, patience, and mercy of God.
