Life and Leadership Letter: The Church That Brings Joy to the City

by | Jan 25, 2024 | The Reflectionary

God’s love for the world compelled him to step in and save all that is lost and broken, so Jesus came to show us the way of love and give his life as a ransom, dying for our sins and then rising again. He is now enthroned as King of a kingdom that welcomes all who want to be part of it forever.

That’s good news! That’s world-changing good news. And with the Great Commission, Jesus sent us to deliver that good news from one person to another, one family to another, one city and nation to another.

In the New Testament book of Acts, we see the apostles carrying the good news from one city to another, and the result is often that entire cities experienced new life and joy.

I wrote an article about how to keep bringing joy to your city and wanted to pass it along this week.

The sermon idea I’m sharing this week is based on Galatians 2:20 and is all about how to experience victory on a day-to-day basis.

SERMON IDEA: How to Live a Life of Spiritual Victory

This week, I came across a thought-provoking article by J. R. Bridges about how the church in North America is changing and challenges us to be ready.

LifeWay Research also released some findings based on their Annual Church Profile data that show that the nation’s largest Protestant denomination is continuing to decline in membership, but is experiencing an increase in baptisms since the Covid-19 pandemic.

I often have conversations with church leaders about how to have healthy teams that make a real difference so an article in Entrepreneur all about the 3 key mistakes too many teams make caught my attention.

I was encouraged by one of Pastor Rick Warren’s daily devotionals this week as he reminded me that changing the way I think can change my life in positive ways.

I hope your upcoming weekend is a good one. And as you lead, keep on growing!
