Great preaching changes lives. As we present the beauty of Christ from the wisdom of the scriptures, people are shaped into his likeness and character.

Great preaching changes churches. A church is a collection of believers who are, together in community, being formed by the Spirit into Christ’s body. Pastors have the privilege of hearing and implementing the vision of Christ for his people.

Great preaching changes families, communities, and entire cultures. As we exit the weekend assembly and filter out into a world desperately in need of hope and truth, all of society is impacted.

These are all reasons why I launched Preaching for Change and why I want to help pastors communicate more effectively.

One of the tools I’ve found most helpful over the years is Ministry Pass. I mention it in The Reflectionary every week. And right now (for just a couple more days), they’re offering a special with some really helpful bonuses to any church leader who wants an enormous library of creative communication tools.

Ministry Pass offers sermon ideas, sermon series packages, graphics, etc. representing a variety of approaches to preaching – expository, topical, thematic, liturgical, etc. They’re my #1 recommended resource for creatively designing more effective sermons and sermon series’.

And if I can help you be a more effective communicator through communication coaching, creative design, or just simple encouragement, please let me know!

In the meantime,

Keep on growing!

This Week’s Big Sermon Idea

Jesus’ Invitation: Come and See

Based on John 1:35-42

Jesus invites us to surrender absolutely everything about our lives to follow him, but he doesn’t start there. He starts with a simple invitation anyone can say “yes” to: “Come and see.” You don’t have to pressure or manipulate your friends into believing what you believe. You simply need to represent Jesus well. Embody his love to those around you and the Holy Spirit will do the work of drawing people to Christ.

Creative Sermon Series Ideas from MinistryPass

My favorite resource for sermon series and message ideas, complete series graphics, and video bumpers (but NOT full notes) to get you started is MinistryPass! Each week, I’ll feature a series I would recommend checking out for the upcoming season of the church year. This week:

From the Description:

Throughout history, there have been times when God’s people came together and prayed, and then God showed up and responded. This four-week series looks at biblical accounts of times that prayer changed things.

Upcoming Events

Exiles in Babylon: Theology in the Raw Conference
March 23-25, 2023 (Boise, ID)

To be a Christian is to be an exile. The Bible has a name for the country we’ve been exiled to: Babylon. As exiles living in Babylon, we need to think biblically, Christianly, indeed exilically—not partisanly—through cultural and political issues. This year, our topics include: The Future of the Church, Disability and the Church, Multiethnic Perspectives of American Christianity, a conversational debate on the Problem of Evil, and a pre-conference symposium on Women in Leadership!

Give Your Sermon Life Beyond This Sunday with Your Own Website

I work with pastors who 1.) don’t have a staff member dedicated to communications and 2.) don’t have the time to handle it all themselves to do the following:

  • Create a website where you can host your sermon content so that it lives beyond Sunday.
  • Transcribe your Sunday messages and edit them into articles and ebooks.
  • Create short video clips and other social media posts from your sermon videos.
  • Create and manage an email list so people can be updated when you’ve added new content.
  • Meet monthly to coach you through some creative sermon planning and preparation.

If you believe I can help you, let’s talk!
