Okay, this is the last week I get to plug this but I’m very hopeful it’s going to make a big, positive difference for the church.
The Church Mental Health Summit starts in just a few days! It’s free. It’s online. You can also pay for an all access pass to watch the sessions anytime or have others on your team watch them. But you’ve gotta register…

Finding Your Church’s Rhythm
I’m a big believer in simplifying the church’s structure and calendar so that fewer people feel used or burned out while serving and volunteering. That doesn’t mean there aren’t big moments that deserve an extra surge of energy. It just means it’s up to church leaders to discover the proper rhythm of activity and rest.
I wrote a whole article about this and wanted to pass it along…
READ: Building Rhythm Into the Life of Your Church
As for preaching this weekend, the Lectionary readings still have us in Philippians and I’m re-sharing the 8-week series I shared last week about Choosing Joy.
I hope your Fall is off to a good start, and keep on growing!

Brandon
PS – I have some openings right now in terms of website development projects (my “day job”). If you’re in need of a new or redesigned website for your church, yourself, or another business or organization, I would love to have a brainstorming meeting with you!
This Week’s Big Sermon Idea
Choose Joy! A Sermon Series Based on Philippians
Why is this image, promoting a message series about joy, seemingly so dark? Because it’s all about a letter written from prison by the Apostle Paul, and it’s a letter all about how to choose joy in life!
Links for Leaders
- I loved one of Pastor Rick Warren’s daily devotionals this week. It was all about how you should believe in others the way Jesus believes in you, and I think it’s a message that’s sorely needed in our world today.
- Jemar Tisby shared a very challenging and informative newsletter this week about the new black codes and why it’s so important that we pay attention to the discussion around equality and equity.
- One of my favorite authors and speakers is Brené Brown. This week I came across a collection of 149 powerful Brené Brown quotes that are definitely worth reading and filing away.
- I just started a new blog over at Patheos under the Evangelical column and the first piece I wrote addresses deconstruction and how to have a Christian faith that flexes instead of failing. Read and share!
- Josh Reich writes with the heart of a pastor on his blog about the three groups of people in your church and how to minister to each of them.
- Purely for informational purposes and not as a promotion of any ministry, MinistryWatch just released their list of the 50 largest evangelism and discipleship parachurch ministries in the United States.
- A free, online event is coming up that focuses on entrepreneurship called The Entrepreneurial Brain. For signing up to get access, you’ll also get some cool resources along the way.

Is It Time for a Website Redesign?
When I start a website redesign project – for a church, a nonprofit, leader/pastor/speaker, etc. – I get obsessed with the details. I want it to shine! And more importantly, I want it to show up in search results.
If your website feels “clunky” or disorganized, hard to navigate, hard to find using Google, or just outdated in its style, let’s talk!! This is what I do!
Visit my creative services page and use the form to let me know about your current site, what you’d like to improve, and the budget you want to work within and we’ll have a conversation!
This newsletter is powered by ConvertKit, which I highly recommend for launching your own online newsletter, email list, platform, etc.
